Hurry up and Wait

Friday, May 19, 2017.

This day there was nothing scheduled except to wait for Ruth's passport which our guide was picking up and was to bring to our hotel at 4 pm. We had a whole day go kill with 3 pm checkout.

We enjoyed a late breakfast. Ruth is very fond of banana bread and milk. She has the cutest milk mustache.

We pretty much hung out in our room all morning.

We packed our bags and had to weigh them to make sure we stayed under 20 kg.

Ruthie liked the scale as well.

After her nap we went to the Dairy Queen in the mall. They had weird (to us) flavors so played it safe with Oreo and Tiramisu.

She really did like it but the bites were a little too cold at first. (Excuse my crazy face)

Ruthie V.'s crazy face.

Walked around outside the hotel and mall to waste time until it was time to check out.

Outside the mall.

Finally it was 3 pm, time to checkout of the hotel.

We waited until 4 for Ruthie's passport. Our guide had them and met us halfway to the airport with them. The airport was about an hour drive from the hotel.

We got to the airport, got all checked in and through security super super early. Our flight didn't leave until 8:20 and it was just after 5 pm. I was getting hungry so sent Trent on a hunt for some greasy American food.

He came back with this. And I ate them. And yes, they tasted like cucumbers.

Ruthie had been a little antsy all day. We had looked at her baby book from her foster family and she got really sad and was rubbing the picture of her foster mom and saying "mama, mama". It was a little heartbreaking.

Once we finally got on the plane it was only a 55 minute flight. Ruth was super tired and cried for awhile on the plane.

But was super happy when we got off.

From the airport in Guangzhou to our hotel it was about an hour. Ruth slept most of the way.

A bus full of people pulled in right before our group so check-in took awhile.

She was so sleepy but such a trooper.

We finally got into our room at midnight. After giving Ruthie her bottle she went right to sleep. I wish we could sleep in but unfortunately have an appointment first thing in the morning.
